Just as the Trees Sway

Just as the trees sway so does my heart

Overwhelmed by temptation after temptation

As the regrets pile higher and higher until

I find myself alone

And empty

Trapped in my own memories

Unmoving, unchanging

My only solace being the comfort of my dreams

When my mind can attempt to escape into its own reality

Where I can rewalk my paths, choose the right options

But as the sun sets the dreams no longer come

Instead I am met with the darkness that is acceptance

My paths have been chosen and I must stand by them

For just as the trees sway so does my heart

But no matter how hard the wind may try

My heart stands tall

Until the day it finally escapes

And moves on
